Damascus Steel Rings

Damascus steel rings are made from the same material as ancient samurai swords. Once the stainless steel has been forged and annealed it is ready to be shaped. A rough cut is done using a lathe, a spinning shaft which rotates the stock against a cutting tool. The ring remains attached to the round stock through the entire lathe process. The basic profile as well as the inner and outer diameters and any grooves are added at this point.

The geometry and pattern structure of the ring is achieved by blade grinding so that many layers are cut through. The more layers crossed, the denser the pattern formed. This process requires a few days due to the strength of Damascus Steel. The ring is then hand polished and dipped in acid to add its trademark etching.
